While outwardly forward & rowdy — and very clearly lacking a few very important brain cells — Kiht'a is actually quite the gentle and trustworthy individual once you get to know him proper. He is far from hard to get along with, and is more than likely ready to talk your ear off at any given moment.Kiht'a tends to try helping those in need when he can, especially now that he has the funds to back it up; he knows first-hand just how rough things can be when one is down and out, and how rare individuals genuinely reach out with good intentions. He doesn't seek repayment in these situations — knowing that he was able to help someone out of a dark time of need is more than enough for him.Hiding his emotions behind a smile and what seems to be boundless energy often comes easy for Kiht'a, but there are days that have memories of his traumatic past tugging firmly on his chains to drag him down. A little support, understanding, and comfort from those he is closest to will go a long way with him in times like these. However, he is not so quick to speak up about the past unless his bonds are solid.

With his past (mostly) behind him, Kiht'a has put forth his best effort to live a better life. In doing so, he has taken up a place in the Maelstrom to protect those that would suffer at the hands of pirates as he did in his early years. Kiht'a climbed the ranks at a fairly impressive pace; after the events of Endwalker, he earned himself further promotion, landing him the title of Storm Captain for his bravery and leadership amidst times of deepest despair.— The Mist
Having finally landed a proper house out in Limsa thank to the more than fair pay that came with his position in the Maelstrom, he has since moved on from his place in The Goblet to be closer to his place of occupation. It isn't uncommon to see him relaxing around the residential district on his days off, or bothering his friends at Farwind Exchange. They ARE neighbors now, after all.— Farwind Exchange
While not a proper member of the Exchange himself, Kiht'a more often than not finds himself lending the company a hand here and there when needed. After all, why wouldn't he help a company that upholds the very cause that drove him to join the Maelstrom?— The Coffer & Coffin
Despite no longer living in Ul'dah, The Coffer & Coffin remains one of Kiht'a's absolute favourite haunts, oft traveling that way to unwind for a drink — or twelve. The place may not be much to look at, but it holds a special place in his heart for more than one reason.— Adventure & Exploration
Kiht'a's position in the Maelstrom may limit his free time nowadays, but he is always eager to set out for new sights should he get the opportunity. If your character has found a neat corner of the map that he's yet to explore — or even one he's known to frequent — they're like to light that flame of curiosity and adventure alongside a new friend.— Family Bonds
With Khit'to being the only family he has any confirmation of being alive, Kiht'a still holds a faint hope that he may once again be reunited with his family. Perhaps your character has heard something in regards to the Nhaesin clan still surviving somewhere deep in The Black Shroud..?— Pirates
While he has (mostly) learned to cope, Kiht'a's fear of pirates due to his deep-rooted childhood trauma ever lingers in the back of his mind. Corner him while he's alone. Rough him up a bit. Make him remember just why he was afraid in the first place. But be warned — he isn't like to go down without a fight, and has claimed the lives of many a pirate since joining the Maelstrom, and plans to take many more.

» T R I V I A //
— His alignment is chaotic neutral.— Kiht'a almost died due to a mugging gone horribly wrong in Pearl Lane. He barely managed to survive, but made it through with some help and lots of bedrest. Regardless, he can't find it in him to hold a grudge towards the person. As far as he is concerned, she simply needed some gil to live.— He has at one point taken to attempting magicks.. likely to impress his boyfriend. While he isn't too good at it, he managed to learn the basics of summoning a bastardization of a carbuncle from a regular stone. However, that is the limit to his current ability, and it might be for the best.— Kiht'a's alcohol & spice tolerance are ridiculously high; he downs Matteo's affectionately named 'Murder Cocktails' with ease.— Thanks to Matteo, Kiht'a has a bit of a gambling habit. While he usually has better good luck than bad, he has lost a pretty sum of coin over stupid and silly bets.— He is embarrassingly afraid of ghosts.

» CHILDHOOD MEMORIES //

Being born to a typical clan of Keepers deep in the Black Shroud, Kiht'a started life off in a fairly normal fashion. The Shroud offered the ideal protection for any living within it's dense forestry — or so one would think. Just barely seven winters old, the young Kiht'a hadn't a care in the world in regards to his safety or well being, nor did he ever foresee what his future had in store for him.Using this to their advantage, pirates that had previously scouted the area in search of some new victims to enslave sorted out a raid to hit Kiht'a's village. A fair amount of lives were lost in the attack, with a smaller number being taken away alive. Kiht'a and those kidnapped alongside him were swept away to their hideaway in La Noscea, where they would eventually be sold into slavery.Kiht'a was eventually sold off to another group of individuals, becoming separated from the family and tribemates he was kidnapped alongside. Now truly alone for the first time in his life, the miqo'te accepted with a sad and heavy heart that there was nothing he could do to shake himself from this situation. This is how he would die.After around a year and a half of being held captive and used in whatever manner those in possession of him saw fit, his freedom was finally won thanks to a pirate bust at the hands of the Maelstrom during what was meant to be a sale of his person to new hands. He used this as an opening to escape, but not being familiar with Thanalan, fled to the nearest city he could find — Ul'dah.

» GROWING UP WITH NAUGHT //

After taking refuge within the city walls, Kiht'a quickly learned that he, along with the many others without a place to call home, were not so welcome by the residents. Slowly — and rather clumsily — Kiht'a picked up theft to survive his time on the streets. A good number of his earlier learning attempts ended with him getting beaten pretty harshly, but he soon polished his skills to nigh perfection. By age ten, it was basically just muscle memory and instinct.Kiht'a managed to find support within a refugee group in time, making survival the tiniest bit easier. He found himself feeling as though he may have found a new family in the group, and even found himself a love interest by fourteen. Unfortunately for him, she was very ill and in need of a treatment none in their group could afford. Surely, there had to be something he could do to help, he thought. Something...Slipping back into the only thing he really knows, Kiht'a sold himself in secret in order to save money to help where he can. He wanted to help his puppy-love crush so desperately, he would do anything he could even if it meant dipping into traumatic territory for him. Gil was gil, he thought.. and he wanted her to live a more comfortable life, even at such a cost to his own self.However, she caught Kiht'a slipping away from one of his clients one evening, questioning him on why he was with a sketchy looking individual. He hesitated briefly, but eventually came clean; the truth was the truth, but it was not a truth that she wanted to hear in the least. A slew of insults were shot his way — 'disgusting', 'liar', and 'cheater' to name a few — and she demand him never return to their group. And as such, he never did.Finding himself on his own once again — this time with gil finally beginning weigh his purse — Kiht'a decided to continue his escapades. Why stop if it raked in so much money, after all? He would be a fool and a half to turn away such a fruitful occupation. He'd never need another soul to rely on again.This job continued until he was around eighteen, when he met one Matteo Strom. Matteo, who found him sitting alone one evening at the Quicksand with a few drinks under his belt — drinks that Kiht'a knew he couldn't very well afford at the time. The two hit it off fairly well, and Matteo could see an all-too-relatable feeling in the younger's eyes. As the night drew to a close, Matteo took no form of 'no' for an answer as he insisted to cover his new friend's tab — much to Kiht'a's surprise and relief.Feelings quickly bloomed for Matteo, and thus he strived to better his person as a whole. If not for him, for Matteo. Kiht'a slowly dropped his occupation as an escort and replaced it with bounty hunting and other odd jobs people would find themselves needing a hand with. This led him to learning how to use a gun properly via one of his clients, thus taking the role of a machinist. Due to the money he was finally making, he was able to afford a proper apartment in The Goblet instead of crashing with Matteo constantly — although, that wouldn't stop Kiht'a from making excuses to.Much and more would happen to challenge Kiht'a's feelings for Matteo, keeping him in a constant state of tug-of-war with his emotional well-being. The person that helped him out of his darkest times, who inspired him to be a better man, who was the first person beyond a childhood crush that he came to love.. was to marry another man. This stressed him greatly, although he tried his best to keep his feelings in check, and came to a point of acceptance. And despite an eventual divorce, Kiht'a held strong the best he could despite keeping those feelings locked up in a little box — they were never meant to be, and he shouldn't push for anything beyond the affections he is allowed.

» FINDING ONE'S PURPOSE //

Some time passes. Kiht'a meets new people, and forms new bonds. After meeting Sobe'ra, establishing a relationship with him (and bearing witness to his awful secret) Kiht'a decided that he should take the initiative to finally start bettering his life — both for him, and his newfound lover. With that decided, he pursued to tackle his past head on and repay the Maelstrom in full — by joining the Grand Company itself to bust those responsible for staining his upbringing.Prior to this time, Kiht'a would actively avoid Limsa Lominsa and La Noscea as a whole due to his past. But as time went on, he grew more and more comfortable with the area, and began finding himself spending a significant amount of time out that way. With his apartment situated in Ul'dah, Kiht'a must make many trips back and forth, being too stubborn to outright move.Not too long into joining, Kiht'a found himself accidentally reunited with his previously assumed dead twin brother on a lesser recruit mission, which didn't go nearly as well as he hoped it would. With his brother revealing that he had taken the place of the pirate captain that ruined their early lives and offering Kiht'a a place by his side, he pleaded for time to think it over. While he didn't want to be involved with pirates, he so desperately desired to be close to his brother again. To get to know the only family he had left. He was ready to give up much and more if it meant he could have family again.Kiht'to agreed, giving him three days to think it over. Time passed. Those days ran up. Kiht'a returned home on the evening of the third day only to find Sobe'ra bound upon his couch, and his brother awaiting him inside. A brief dance of words, a sharp jab through the shoulder, and tugging at emotions long since tucked away by the pirate captain finally resulted in Kiht'a only mildly altering his twin's stance. Of course, he wouldn't leave him alone just yet, as he made appearances now and again; the both of them low-key want to be in each other's lives again, but neither know quite how to tackle the situation.Over time, Kiht'a found himself working twice as hard to better himself to protect those he held dear, swiftly earning his title of Second Storm Lieutenant, and with enough income to finally make true his desires, purchases a house in the Mist. While still keeping his apartment in Ul'dah for travel convenience, he finds his primary residence in La Noscea now.His most adventures have had him dabbling in summoning magicks thanks to the curiosity brought on by visiting the (now since defunct) weekly Spellstone with Desch, who he had met not too long beforehand, and is now dating. This has led to the summoning of his ruby carbuncle — Stinky Red the Mighty — and his current downward spiral with the creature. The pair have been working to unravel the mystery as to why the carbuncle is unable to be de-summoned, along with other questions attached to it.

» THE FACE OF WAR //

[ ENDWALKER SPOILERS AHEAD. ]While Kiht'a was full aware that being in the ranks of the Maelstrom would throw its fair share of hardships his way, never did he expect to be blindsided by what was known to be The Final Days. Thrust into war at a moment's notice — and without proper time to inform Desch of his upcoming deployment — Kiht'a found himself amid those sent to march on Garlemald.Despite his vast military experience at this point, nothing could have ever prepared him for this level of Hells-born chaos. Not even Calamity scarred him as deeply as an event of this scale ever could.Time all began to run together. How long had it been, now? Days? Weeks? Months, even? Kiht'a began to doubt that even the Twelve knew.Having witnessed many a twisted and disfiguring transformation, and carrying the knowledge that the 'things' he had been putting down were once people, he nigh lost himself to the despair. Alas, with a proper — and much needed — uplifting of morale, Kiht'a's fleet managed to pull through.With the help of a rather noteworthy group Kiht'a had only heard of in his days in the Maelstrom's service, The Final Days had managed to ben averted. While it would not bring back all the lives that had been lost to despair, he could still smile knowing that the world would carry on yet.Upon returning home, Desch had given him a rough (albeit very worried) scolding. Lo and behold, none of his mail made it through, and his boyfriend had long since assumed him dead, or worse.While things smoothed over, Kiht'a tried his best to take it easy and recover from his wounds — both physical and emotional. Several new scars would become of his wounds, but he is simply glad to be back home with his beloved in one piece.Upon being called back into the command, vetting his exceptional performance in Garlemald, the Maelstrom has found Kiht'a worthy of a promotion to Storm Captain. Carrying his new title would come with many new responsibilities, but he has more than earned a lengthy vacation.And now, the trail towards a new dawn awaits.

DESCH STROM — BOYFRIEND
Having met in Pearl Lane due to Kiht'a awkwardly overhearing this miqo'te talking to his bag as if it were another person, and Desch being considerably rude to him for questioning it, friends were the absolute last thing anyone would've expected to come from their initial meeting.Despite Desch having kept him at arm's length due to his own reasoning, Kiht'a found himself growing quite fond of him over time. Although it took him quite a bit of time and pressing to get Desch to open up, he finally managed.They would visit the Spellstone on a weekly basis to observe, being the initial spark in Kiht'a's interest in magicks. Desch offered to help him learn, but things didn't go quite as expected due to Kiht'a's lack of understanding.Slowly, Desch grew more and more comfortable around Kiht'a — an unexpected first for Desch — and the feelings somehow grew to be mutual. Long hours of discussion on more serious matters would eventually turn to be the gateway for feelings accidentally being placed clear on the table, and both sides wasted little time to act on them.The two of them spend a fair amount of time together these days, Desch more often than not making himself more at home in Kiht'a's home than his own.

SOBE'RA ARYOHCHA — BOYFRIEND
A timid miqo'te that Kiht'a met through Matteo and his company.Although they started out slow and awkward at first due to Sobe'ra's mindset, Kiht'a ended up winning his trust with ease. Despite the urge to never set roots and always be on the move — a by-product of a difficult secret kept by Sobe'ra — the white-haired miqo'te stuck around for Kiht'a.As they continued to spend time together, Kiht'a found himself growing fonder of him, a budding interest tugging at his heart. In growing closer, he had the unfortunate luck of discovering Sobe'ra's secret firsthand, but their reunion afterwards led to aforementioned feelings being made loud and clear on both ends.As of recent, Kiht'a has no idea where the miqo'te has gone, and has assumed the worst due to his track record.

KIHT'TO NHAESIN — TWIN BROTHER
Kiht'a's long lost twin brother, now bearing the preferred name of 'Keaton Paletail'; Kiht'to is one of the family members kidnapped alongside him as children, and the only known living member other than himself. The two were separated not too long after their kidnapping, leaving them to assume the other dead and doing a number on both of their mental states.The two eventually reunited under the oddest of chance circumstances, Kiht'to approached him as a pirate captain — the very thing that ruined their lives from a young age. Kiht'a couldn't believe what had become of his twin, leaving him in shambles upon their first chance re-encounter.Time and again, Kiht'to has sought Kiht'a out to push and prod his brother, attempting to get him to bend and join his crew alongside him. Being unable to even fathom giving in to the way of the pirates, Kiht'a keeps holding his ground.. although, he may be willing to take to sea with his brother under different circumstances.While unsure about his brother's current standing, he does wish dearly that they could be close as they once were long, long ago.Only time will tell.

A most trusted and long-standing friend. Matteo has been by Kiht'a's side through thick and thin over the numerous years that they have known one another. Often in the past were times that they would guide each other through struggles unbearable; the two have become beyond inseparable.Kiht'a still oft reaches out to Matteo, always longing for those days of old where they would meet up frequently for a drink or two, occasionally traveling out to Matteo's homestead when his schedule allows.Kiht'a once harbored extremely strong romantic feelings for Matteo, but has since learned to tuck them neatly away; their tight-bonded friendship is far more important to him, and there is naught he is willing to give to keep things well between the two.He can — and will — kill and die for this man.

L'ANSA TIA — FRIEND
A rather odd individual that Kiht'a met through Matteo some while back. The two are known to get themselves into all sorts of trouble together, especially when their mutual friend isn't around to knock some sense into them.More often than not, their adventures land the two deep within ruins, abandoned cities, and the like. Although they have not been on a right proper adventure in some time, they have made away with countless treasures in their past ventures.
